To μικρότερο τραγούδι από το 2003 και τρία από τα μεγαλύτερα της καριέρας τους κυκλοφορούν οι Iron Maiden

Το απόγευμα της Δευτέρας οι Iron Maiden ανακοίνωσαν την κυκλοφορία του νέου τους άλμπουμ, που θα έχει τίτλο Senjutsu και έρχεται στις 3 Σεπτεμβρίου. Έχουμε ήδη ακούσει το Writing on the Wall που έκανε πρεμιέρα την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα και πλέον ξέρουμε ότι η νέα δουλειά θα περιλαμβάνει συνολικά δέκα τραγούδια.

Ένα μεγάλο θέμα συζήτησης για τα τραγούδια των Maiden στη μετά Brave new World εποχή, ήταν πάντα το θέμα της διάρκεια των τραγουδιών, κάτι που διατηρείται φυσικά και τώρα αφού μπορεί το Senjutsu να μην περιέχει κάτι τόσο μεγάλο όσο το Empire of the Clouds, άλλα και πάλι οι διάρκειες τραβάνε κατευθείαν την προσοχή.

Να το πάμε πρώτα από την άλλη πλευρά, αφού το Days of Future Past στα 4:03 είναι το μικρότερο τραγούδι τους από το 2003, όταν το Wildest Dreams είχε διάρκεια 3:52, ενώ και το Stratego κινείται οριακά κάτω από τα πέντε λεπτά στα 4:59.

Από εκεί και πέρα αρχίζει η ανηφόρα με το Writing on the Wall λίγο πάνω από τα έξι λεπτά, δύο τραγούδια στα επτά λεπτά ( The Time Machine, Darkest Hour), το ομώνυμο τραγούδι του άλμπουμ έχει διάρκεια 8:20 και το Lost in a Lost World είναι στα 9:31.

Τα τρία τραγούδια που κλείνουν το άλμπουμ και έχουν όλα την υπογραφή του Steve Harris μπαίνουν όλα στο top-10 τραγουδιών με τη μεγαλύτερη διάρκεια στην καριέρα τους με το Death of the Celts (10:20) στην 9η θέση, το Hell on Earth (11:19) στην 5η και το The Parchment (12:39) στην τέταρτη.
